Science shows for Festivals

This has been a busy few weeks with shows in Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois and Michigan.    Getting Excited About Science will be performed at Kirkwood July 4 celebration.   The summer will end with the show being performed on 3 days of the Will County Fair near Mokena, IL.      Schools are booking shows as well now to get their prime dates reserved.

Michigan Science Assemblies

Getting Excited About Science shows are being performed for 3 important shows:   Wayne State University (Women in Engineering Day),  Michigan Math and Science Academy (Science Fair) and very  Science Olympiad event at L’Anse Creuse High School.

These shows are for very large groups and 2 of them are repeat groups.    I am bringing new demonstrations and the van is packed tight.    Our shows will be in Cleveland later in March and back in Michigan in May.    We will have several Michigan shows at libraries during the summer.

Science of the Midwest at Sandwich Opera House

Getting Excited About Science will present a show focusing on the Science achievements of Illinois region at the Historic Sandwich Opera House, 140 East Rail Road Street, Sandwich,IL    The show is on Thursday January 26, 2012 at 1:00 pm   This show is geared for grades 3 – 6, but is open to the public.   Tickets can be purchased at the opera house or by calling 815-786-2555.

Steve Belliveau will present large scale models of a draw bridge, lock and dam, building concepts, electrical achievehments, fossils, transportation maps and more.   This show was originally presented to the Chicago Public Libraries during Science Chicago.

 

Science is Fun

There are 3 free public shows at the Waukesha County Museaum on Jan. 21, 2012.   Show times are 11:00 am, 1:00 pm and 2:30 pm   This will be an all ages show with lots of fun.   Call 262-521-2859 for more information.

A Special public show is at the Sandwich Opera House on Jan 26, 2012 at 1:00 PM.    This show will focus on the science in the Midwest.   Call 815-786-2555 for ticket information.

Niles Public Library will have Getting Excited About Science on Feb. 12, 2012 at 2:00 PM.    This is an all ages show.   Call 847-663-6622 for more information

Elk Grove Village Public Library will have Getting Excited About Science on Feb. 20, 2012 at 11:00 AM.   This is an all ages show.    Call 847-439-0447 for more information.

University of Illinois at Morris will feature Getting Excited About Science on March 3  at 1:30 pm for a special Earth Day program.   The show will be at Saratoga Elementary in the large gym in Morris, IL.

Chemistry Week

I was a part of this science celebration on Daley Plaza in honor of National Chemistry week.    This week all shows will have a few extra chemistry experiments and spooky science demonstrations.

I performed before Maggie Daley a ball drop experiment where I asked for predictions during the Chicago event.   It was a great day.   I was representing the Chicago Public Libraries at this event as thier Scienctist in Residence.

New Bremen, Ohio library put this photo up on their Flickr page.  Getting Excited About Science can be performed on the largest venues as well in smaller rooms.   The show is very flexible in space and set up.   This photo was from a science program in the summer of 2011.
