Getting Excited About Science will be making a repeat appearance at Will County Fair Children’s Stage this Saturday August 27 at 4:00 PM. I love doing outdoor public shows and will have Elephant Toothpaste, liquid Nitrogen, Human Gyroscope, shooting parachute man, Diet Coke explosion, electro magnet fun, audience participation, music and prizes. If you are in Northern Illinois, come on by and say hi.
Nicole Tesla proved that AC generators could safely and efficiently tansmit electricity at the Chicago World’s Fair in the Great White City. Thomas Edison was still fighting him every step of the way. Because of the sucess in Chicago, Tesla designed generators manufactured by George Westinghouse were installed at Goat Island, Niagara Falls, New York. This supplied electricity (Carried by cables installed by Thomas Edison) to Buffalo. This sucess in New York was soon copied through out the world. During a few different shows which have electricity concepts in them, I tell this story ( along with some neat demonstrations).

As another point of interest. Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin had electricity before many parts of Chicago. Today, Wisconsin has over 30 hydro electric plants.
This was a busy summer with outdoor science shows at camps. Here are a few photos from an Illinois camp with 500 campers sitting on 1 1/2 basketball courts watching Getting Excited About Science. Getting Excited About Science is often performed outside during the summer months. This is a very large group, however the show can be tailored for smaller groups as well.

Here are a few images of the equipment used in this show. We will be performing 40 shows for the Chicago Public Libraries in the summer 2011. At the end of the show, we have between 10 – 16 children helping make music. Lots of fun demonstrations, a few surprises and audience participation create “Good Vibrations” for teaching many sound concepts.

Getting Excited About Science performed on July 3, 2011 for the National Education Association families during their convention in Chicago. Vice President Joe Biden was there on the same day.

This summer will have 40 shows for the Chicago Public Libraries, and other shows across Ohio, Michigan, Illinois and Wisconsin. Here is the link for the Chicago Public Library shows.
Just finished performing for the Concept Science and Engineering Fair where there were students from 30 schools across 5 states (Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan and Missouri) at Cleveland State University. This is open to any public school student as a way to promote science, math and engineering.
Feel free to contact me for information about the 2012 fair.
Today, I performed hands on Science with students from Providence St. Mel From the moment I stepped in to the building and saw the students going from class to class and reading the history of the school….I knew it was special. Go directly to their website and learn more.
